I initially started another blog but that failed miserably. Instead, this is going to be a diary of my first job as a lecturer in a UK university while wishing I had done medicine and was a fully fledged doctor rather than a PhD one.
Expect some angst, hair pulling and musings of what should have been as well as what is.

Calling all readers
Leave me a reply. I just want to know how many of you out there are following these random witterings. Just say hello:)
We read here at the Network - but I don't know that comments are the best judge of follower numbers. Many people just do not comment although they follow. Go on the Network (http://ukmentalhealthnetwork.blogspot.com) and read a blog post 200 Posts (http://aethelreadtheunread.wordpress.com/2009/10/15/200-posts/) by Aethelread the Unread - this will let you see how another blogger is thinking about numbers.
You can look into installing Google Analytics. this will give you some idea of the numbers that visit your blog. Again this is not followers per say - as many visitors come from search engines looking for specific word searches - but it will give you an idea of how many are looking.
Followers and visitors are nice - but I think blogging is a very personal activity and one that gives benefits just from the act of blogging. I think it is a mistake for bloggers to judge their work by numbers. Judge your work by how it helps you to improve. Good luck
